The Homework Cure
A Practical, Relationship-Based Course for Parents of Tweens & Teens Who Are Struggling With School Stress, Homework Battles, Motivation, and Academic Overwhelm
Homework has taken over your house.
Maybe every afternoon feels tense before your child even walks through the door.
Maybe you’re exhausted from:
⚠️ reminding
⚠️ monitoring
⚠️ checking grades
⚠️ managing missing assignments
⚠️ arguing about motivation
⚠️ trying to figure out when to help and when to back off
Maybe your child is:
‼️ overwhelmed
‼️ shutting down
‼️ avoiding work
‼️ procrastinating
‼️ melting down
‼️ insisting they “don’t care”
‼️ or convinced they’re “just bad at school”
And underneath all of it?
You’re worried.
Not just about grades.
About confidence.
About independence.
About life skills.
About what happens when nobody is standing over them reminding them to turn things in anymore.
If any of that sounds familiar, you are not alone.
And more importantly:
there is nothing wrong with your child for struggling, and there is nothing wrong with you for feeling overwhelmed by it.
This Course is Different
The Homework Cure is not about turning parents into homework police.
And it’s not about shaming kids into “trying harder.”
Instead, this course helps parents understand:
🔹 what’s actually getting in the way
🔹 how adolescent brains work
🔹 why so many capable kids struggle with follow-through
🔹 and how to build the skills, systems, and support structures that help tweens and teens move toward greater independence over time
This course blends:
🔹 adolescent brain science
🔹 executive functioning support
🔹 practical parenting tools
🔹 emotional regulation strategies
🔹 communication techniques
and real-world school experience
…all through a relationship-centered lens.
The result: not JUST better grades. Â
Also:
🔹 less conflict
🔹 more confidence
🔹 stronger skills
🔹 and a healthier parent-child relationship in the process.
This Course Is For You If…
✔ Homework has become emotionally loaded in your household
✔ Your child procrastinates, avoids work, or shuts down
✔ You feel like you care more about school than your teen does
✔ You’re constantly reminding, checking, rescuing, or micromanaging
✔ Your child struggles with organization, planning, follow-through, or motivation
✔ You suspect your child is capable–but something is getting in the way
✔ You want to help without overhelping
✔ You’re tired of nightly homework battles and power struggles
✔ You want your child to become more independent without throwing them into the deep end
This course is especially helpful for families navigating:
-
executive functioning challenges
-
anxiety around school
-
ADHD-related struggles
-
perfectionism
-
overwhelm
-
motivation issues
-
or chronic procrastination
But your child does not need an ADHD diagnosis–or any diagnosis at all–for parents to benefit from this work.
Truthfully, most tweens and teens need more support around executive functioning and academic independence than they’re getting.
Inside The Homework Cure, You'll Learn:
Module 1: The Homework Completion Recipe
Discover the many hidden ingredients required for successful homework completion and identify where your child’s specific breakdowns are happening.
Module 2: Can’t vs. Won’t — Understanding the Adolescent Brain
Learn how teen brains are wired differently from adult brains and why some behaviors that look “lazy” or “defiant” are actually developmental or skill-based struggles.
Module 3: Promoting Executive Functions
Learn practical, real-life ways to help your teen strengthen skills like organization, planning, time management, initiation, prioritization, and follow-through.
Module 4: Never Use the “L” Word
Understand why kids procrastinate and what actually helps move them forward without increasing shame, panic, or resistance.
Module 5: Monitoring Progress Without Losing Your Mind
Learn how to gradually hand over responsibility so your child can build independence while you stop hovering over the grade portal like a caffeinated hawk.
Reality check: This course will probably not make your child delight in their homework. And they probably won't start color coding their planner just for fun.Â
Â
But it WILL give you the tools to support the child you have, which stands to increase harmony, reduce conflict, and help your kiddo complete their work more easily, even if they aren't thrilled about doing so.Â
Â
Â
This is about:
- understanding the “why” underneath the struggle
- building better systems
- reducing unnecessary conflict
- supporting skill development
- and helping your child grow toward greater confidence and independence over time
Â
This is long-game parenting.
And you do not have to do it blindly.

Hi, I’m Sam.
I’m the founder of Teen Savvy Coaching, a licensed clinical counselor, veteran educator, former school counselor, former dean of students, parenting coach, and mom of two young adults.
For more than 26 years, I’ve worked with tweens, teens, and families navigating the complicated intersection of:
- adolescence
- school
- motivation
- emotions
- executive functioning
- and family stress
I created The Homework Cure because I saw so many good parents feeling exhausted and discouraged… and so many capable kids feeling misunderstood, overwhelmed, or stuck.
Parents don’t need more guilt.
Kids don’t need more shame.
Families need practical tools, clearer understanding, and support that actually works in real life.
That’s exactly what this course is designed to provide.
