Why I created the Teen Savvy Parent Hub.
Hi. I'm Sam Straub. As a parenting coach, licensed professional counselor, and former school counselor, I've worked with countless families navigating the teen years. And I've raised two teens myself! I know firsthand that teens are predictable. Their behavior makes sense—once you understand the developmental patterns at play. When you stop taking their resistance personally and start using the right communication strategies, everything shifts. You become the steady, confident guide your child needs, without constantly battling for control or feeling like you're failing.
Most importantly, I believe that humor and love are essential tools for parenting teens. If we can't laugh at the absurdity of some of these moments we'll cry (or scream, or both). In my work with families, I bring a lighthearted, compassionate approach—because raising a teen is tough, but it doesn't have to be miserable. You deserve to enjoy this stage of parenting, and your teen deserves a parent who can meet them with both wisdom and warmth.
